Pronto Pollo Scone Sandwiches

Tea Party Sandwiches – everyone loves them but in today’s busy world, less and less of us are taking the time to make these special little treats.

Not only do they dress up your tea party menu and let your guests know that you put some effort into providing them with the best of tea party food, they are most peoples favorite on the food table!

There are some tricks to making the classic tea party sandwich, especially the rolled sandwiches. One of the tricks is to find a baker that will provide you with the jumbo loaves of white bread and slice them for you longways!

If you can find a baker to do this, your job just got a whole lot easier. You can do both white and brown bread sandwiches with an assortment of fillings to make a dazzling display on your sandwich plate.

Once you have found your prized baker, the rest is quite easy! You have to trim the crust off the bread slices. This is key. Then, spread your favorite filling – egg salad, smoked salmon and cream cheese, or peanut butter and jam for the kids! Then you roll……. from the long side start your rolling.

Once you are done, assuming you are doing this well in advance of your tea party, you need to store them while keeping them fresh and cut them just before you serve.

So, wrap them up in saran wrap and put them in the fridge… just before you are ready to serve them, take the rolls from the fridge and slice them into 1-1.5″ slices and place on your tray.

It really doesn’t take that long, and everyone will appreciate the beautiful sandwiches that you present on your tea party menu at your next gathering.

How do Toasted Sandwich Makers work?

A toasted sandwich maker works by using heated plates. These plates are heated by internal electrical coils. The plates clamp down over the sandwich, sealing in the filling and toasting the bread. Some machines even cut the finished sandwich in half for you. Most toasted sandwich makers produce two sandwiches (or toasties) at a time.

What types of Toasted Sandwiches Can I Make?

There are many types of toastie that you can make in a toasted sandwich maker, and some of the most popular variations are detailed below:

· Grilled cheese: This is the classic toasted sandwich. Butter the bread (remember to put the buttered sides outwards in your toasted sandwich maker) and add grated cheese – spreading it out so that it is evenly dispersed over the bread. You can simply have cheese on its own or add one or more of a huge variety of other ingredients, including onion, mushroom, ham, and tomato.

· Ham and Mustard: Put the ham in first, and then add the mustard on top of the meat. You can use other meats as well, such as slices of roast beef or chicken.

· Tuna Melt: Tuna can be used on its own or mixed with mayonnaise. Use a low-fat version if you are trying to eat healthily. Some people also like to add a small amount of sweetcorn in as well. Mix the ingredients together in a bowl, and then carefully spoon the mixture on to the bread. Add grated cheese on top. When the toasted sandwich maker is closed and activated the cheese will melt, and the tuna will heat up.

· Patty melt: This works in a similar way to the tuna melt. Use hamburger (or another type of ground meat) as the main filling, and add cheese and/or onion to taste. The sandwich should then be grilled until the cheese has melted.

· Peanut Butter and Banana: This is becoming more and more popular. Spread peanut butter over the bread and add slices of banana. The toasted sandwich maker will turn this in to a hot, gooey filling – so make sure it has cooled slightly before you bite in to it!

· Corned Beef and Onion: This is extremely popular sandwich has stood the test of time, and is ideal for those on a limited budget. Slice the corned beef and chop the onion. Butter the bread, and put it all together in your toasted sandwich maker.

The main thing to remember when using your toasted sandwich maker is to experiment! You can use almost any combination of fillings. Even unlikely sounding duo’s such as apple and onion, banana and jam, and bacon and baked beans can taste great after a couple of minutes in a toasted sandwich maker.

The Great Debate has ended: The Brooklyn Style pizza of Domino’s Pizza is
definitely the top pizza variant among National Association for Stock Car
Auto Racing (NASCAR) fans. Domino’s Pizza, which is presently the
official pizza of the NASCAR, had offered two flavors which NASCAR fans
had to choose between – the other flavor was the Philly Cheesesteak Pizza.

So what does pizza have to do with NASCAR? Well, the Domino’s Pizza race
car has now been renamed the Domino’s Brooklyn Style Pizza Toyota, to
showcase the winning variant during the NASCAR race.

Even though the Philly Cheesesteak Pizza lost to its Brooklyn-inspired
cousin, it remains one of the most popular variants of pizza under the
Domino’s Pizza umbrella.

On August 20, 2007, Domino’s Pizza takes on the role of title sponsor of
the NASCAR Busch Series Race to be held at the Michigan International
Speedway and which will be promoted as the “Domino’s Pizza 250.” No. 99
Busch Series Chevrolet of Michael Waltrip Racing, to be driven by NASCAR
Nextel Cup driver Michael Waltrip, will be sponsored by Domino’s Pizza
and will be renamed the No. 99 Domino’s Pizza Busch Series Chevrolet.

Domino’s Pizza will also be the associate sponsor of the No. 15 NEXTEL
Cup NAPA Chevrolet of Dale Earnhardt Inc. which Michael Waltrip will also
be driving. A double slice in the NASCAR-pizza partnership, so to speak.
This definitely marks a coup for Domino’s Pizza in the world of racing.

Domino’s was able to boost its sales throughout the country through its
Race Day 555 Deal which promotes the consumption of its well-loved pizzas
on NASCAR race days. Race Day officially becomes Domino Pizza Day for
pizza-chomping NASCAR racing fans. Thus the public not only gets to enjoy
exciting car races from NASCAR but they also get to savor great pizzas
from Domino’s Pizza. As if its status as the leading pizza company
(based on deliveries) is not enough, Domino’s Pizza is revving up its
marketing and advertising efforts to capitalize on its partnership with
NASCAR.

So for car racing fans out there, when Race Day comes around, don’t
forget to bring lots of cash with you – treat yourself (and your family
as well) to plenty of savory pizzas from Domino’s Pizza, the official
pizza maker for the National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing.
Without a doubt, great pizzas and fast cars definitely go together.

Pronto Pollo toppings

How often all of us have ogled hungrily at the pizza due to its lavish choice of toppings? It’s true, that how well a pizza can fulfill your cravings depends on the quality of toppings used on it. The kind of toppings also defines the time included in preparing a pizza. They can make it a one-dish wonder or something that is barely consumable. A mouth watering pizza with tangy toppings coupled with a glass of wine like Chianti can be perfect dish for a rainy night. For the more vibrant, beer with pizza is a zestier dish.

The choice of pizza toppings can be as varied as the taste buds of the different family members.

The simplest toppings are tomato and cheese for young children who have not yet developed an appetite for the more delectable vegetables and meat. For those with a penchant for consuming spicy meat containing pizzas, the ideal pizza toppings are sliced red chilli and chorizo cubes.

The variety of toppings that can be used on a pizza is simply endless, but too many toppings can intrude with each other and ruin the taste of pizza altogether.

If you are a meat-eater and nothing soothes your taste-buds which does not have a dose of meat in it, then ham can be on your pizza. Eggs can also be included along with ham on the pizza. The ham dissected into thin stripes should be placed on the pizza once the pizza sauce has been uniformly applied. As far as the egg topping is concerned, it has to be fried and placed in the middle of the pizza.

Seafood can also be a delectable addition to your pizza with choices like prawns, tunas and anchovies. Cooked chicken pieces can be another favorite for a mouth-watering pizza. Mozzarella layers can be sprinkled with sliced tomatoes and basil leaves for a vegetarian potpourri. Basil can be grown in the house for the purpose of adding it to a pizza, but if you want to save such efforts, then grown basil leaves can be procured from stores. Black jalapeno is also making the rounds these days as the most wanted choice for pizza toppings. Sweet pepper dews and jalapeno available in the market included in jars are a must for those who have a taste for fresh vegetables toppings on the pizza. Pesto also purchased in a jar from the supermarket store can also be added to the pizza to make it taste great. And how can one forget mushrooms, perhaps the most prevalent form of pizza toppings used in almost all the countries. Sliced mushrooms are used in an Italian pizza variety called the Pizza Quattro Stagioni for a refreshing taste.

Pizza marinara, a quintessential Italian variety of pizza comes loaded with prawns and tuna. One can be more experimental and garnish it with mussels and squid, and cover the feisty meat selection with slices of mozzarella.

Olive oil is also used as a very common pizza topping and every kind of pizza is sprinkled with few drops of olive oil before it is baked in the oven.

But one should bear in mind the fact that overdoing the toppings can leave the base uncooked in the oven. Also, a pizza with a glut of meat on it looks rather unkempt, so try to have only two or three toppings with a tomato and cheese pizza. Remember, keep the toppings to a moderate amount on your pizza and the results will surely be appetizing for everyone.

As the warmer weather comes so does barbecue season. I am looking forward to outdoor cooking and dining! Around our place there is never a shortage of grilled meat on buns. What I have learned over the years is to go topless! Be it a grilled burger, chicken breast or pulled pork sandwich my weight loss surgery diet-friendly burger is better without the top bun. First, the top bun takes too much space in my stomach pouch without delivering enough nutritional punch to surrender that much pouch real estate to it. Secondly, without a top bun I am forced to politely eat my sandwich cutting it into small bites with a knife and fork. Fork feeding slows me down! I can control my fork, resting it between bites, and eat at a slow relaxed pace rather than hand wrangle my burger to devour it in rapid-fire bites barely appreciated before my pouch is stuffed full. Try going topless this grilling season and see how this small change makes for a great weight loss surgery meal.

This is one of my favorite meat barbecue meals because the slow cooker does the work for me. After a long day at the office I only need to set the picnic table and toss the salad together and dinner is served.

If you can bake your own bread, you will be on
a winner. It’s hard to beat the aroma and just out
of the oven crunchiness of freshly baked bread.
Otherwise, there are more and more local artisan
bakeries specialising in breads with great texture
and character.
The fi lling – whether it’s a wrap or something
more traditional, it’s a good idea to limit the
number of fi llings so the fl avours don’t get too
muddled. A good rule of thumb is four or fi ve
fi llings. Of course, its no good having gone to
the trouble of sourcing great bread if the fi llings
aren’t up to the task. There are several companies
providing creative sandwich fi llings: the Pronto
Pollo classic mix is a blend of oven roasted chicken
breast, whole egg mayonnaise, fresh herbs and
spices – simple and delicious. Also, don’t forget
your vegetarian customer – a good salad selection
is a start. I had a roast eggplant, garden herb cream
cheese, hommus and tabouleh pitta recently that
was perfect.
